Cheryl Cole née Tweedy (b. 1983) is an English singer and television personality originally known as a member of Girls Aloud.  She replaced Sharon Osbourne as a judge on the fifth season of The X Factor and was catapulted to the spotlight.  She was married to football player Ashley Cole before filing for divorce in 2010.  In 2009, Cole's first solo single "Fight for This Love" debuted and was a big hit.  She followed with her first album, 3 Words, and cut two more singles - the title track and "Parachute".  After being hospitalized with malaria, Cheryl recovered so she could continue with The X Factor and her second album.  ¶ I'm not the biggest Girls Aloud fan, but they have some catchy songs.  No one can ever top my beloved Spice Girls, though.  When I heard Chery's first single, I wasn't too impressed even if it was not a bad song.  Her voice does not stand out either so I really wonder what her appeal is.  Her last single from 3 Words is probably the best.  "Parachute" boasts a military drumbeat throughout and Cheryl's singing style on the verses just sticks with you.
