YOSHII LOVINSON is the stage name for Kazuya Yoshii, t he lead singer of the Japanese rock band THE YELLOW MONKEY.  Kazuya debuted with his band in 1989.  YELLOW would officially disband in 2004.  Yoshii's solo work began in 2003 with the single "TALI".  He released two albums until between then and 2005.  ¶ Because he name "Yellow Monkey" stems from a play on an obscure ethnic slur, most people might bat an eye.  Or they've never heard of them.  While they were pretty popular in Japan, I've never seen a huge fanbase in the west.  If you mention the song "Tactics" from the anime Rurouni Kenshin to an avid anime fan, their eyes will probably perk up in recognition.  In general, the band's music was energetic and fun, feeding off dated rock grooves.  YOSHII's solo work is darker with a shred of sobriety.
